I love it when we get the story first.
I
t doesn’t matter if we publish it 30 minutes before the competition, we were still first. And, today with our 24 hour news cycle, the scoops seem to be getting shorter and shorter everyday. Most of the time news is published almost simultaneously.
Does this mean the scoop is irrelevant?
I don’t think so. It’s just different. First to know status is becoming more and more important in social circles every day. This shifts the challenge in journalism today. It’s all about delivery.
Readers need to get the news from us first and each reader needs to receive it through their own preferred channel. Is your RSS feed your life line? Is Twitter your new favorite? Are you chained to your blackberry or is Outlook open 24/7 on your desktop?
Timely news, quick delivery, and easy content sharing. Make every reader the first to know the news. That’s what readers want.
